L/R Balance Potentiometer

L/R Balance Potentiometer

Hi,   I have been using my DAC1 HDR on my HD800 headphones since I purchased it with fantastic results.  Now I want to use it to improve the sound to my speakers so have bought a Cyrus X Power amp to connect to the RCA outputs.  This also produces excellent results, except for one issue. My room layout dictates that I sit much closer to the right hand speaker than the left, so need to adjust the balance more to the left hand side. I noticed that on the standard DAC1 and DAC1 USB there are left/right adjustments from the outside of the rear panel of the unit but not on the HDR model. However after investigation, I have seen that inside the HDR there is a L/R balance pot located behind the right hand headphone jack but before I mess with it, just wanted to know whether this will affect just the RCA outputs or will it also adjust the balance of the headphone output jacks which I don't want to do?  If this is the case, is there any other way I can adjust the L/R balance on just the RCA outputs?

Regards ChrisR.

Hello Chris, I am very sorry

Hello Chris,

I am very sorry for the late response.  I wasn't aware of your post because the notification system for this forum seems to be disfunctional.  :(

DO NOT ADJUST THE L/R BALANCE!!  It will affect the headphones as well as the other outputs.

None of the DAC1's have a balance control for the main outputs without affecting the headphone outputs.  The trim-pots on the DAC1 and DAC1 USB are for calibrated mode, but since you are using the volume control on the front to control the volume to your amp (correct?), this is not an option for you.

If you have additional questions, I'd be happy to answer them here, or you can call 1-800-262-4675.

Best,

Elias
