 Two things: first I want to thank Roy for all the time he spent with me (Tom in Canada) on the phone regarding garbled soiund from a mac mini usb. It was solved by a forum on Audiogon, apparently you have to disable the Equalizer settuing in iTunes, done and sounds great. 

Now, trying to use Pure Music the garble continues. Does anyone know any unique settings needed to have Pure Music v1.8 (most current) feed properly?

I  bought a Mac Mini on

I  bought a Mac Mini on Friday to use with my DAC1-HDR.  Having never used a Mac before, I was somewhat daunted but have managed to get it all working fine.

I  am trialling Channel D Pure Music at the moment, and despite a few quirks (which I understand are normal) it is working perfectly.  That said, I am using optical output from the Mini to the DAC1.   I  haven't tried the USB option.  Have you tried optical?

Given both the USB  and optical connections are limited to 24/96 (Benchmark USB limited to 96KHz, Mac optical limited to 96KHz), and given that the DAC effectively eliminate jitter-induced distortion from any input, I  would have thought the USB or optical connections would sound completely identical.  Would you agree?
