DAC1 USB Bose Headphone combo

DAC1 USB Bose Headphone combo

I've had a DAC1 USB for about two years and have it well integrated into a Win7 system, using JRiver Mediacenter as the database/player combination.

I was recently given a set of Bose QC3 noise-cancelling headphones that I would hope would work well with the phone jack on the DAC.  Unfortunately, I get a series of unpleasant tones (even without music playing) when I jack in.  It is not digital noise, much more analog.  Probably in the 100-200Hz zone.  I've used other non-powered earbuds, and in-ear phones without difficulty.

Has anybody else had this issue, or have insights into its cause?  Perhaps the noise cancelling?

Thanks in advance.

This is very strange!  I

This is very strange!  I haven't heard of this before.  Does it do this same thing with other headphone outputs on other devices?

Bose sound cancelling

Elias,

Thanks for writing back.

The Bose headphones work well with all manner of other sources.  Including going direct into the Line One pre amp.

In rechecking things before writing to you, I put a set of Apple ear buds into the DAC-1 and the right chanel is out.

Meanwhile the Balanced outs to the main system seem to be working fine.

 Is the right channel working

Is the right channel working with the Bose headphones?

I'd suggest contacting Rory at 1-800-262-4675 or service@benchmarkmedia.com to get this resolved quicker.

Best,

Elias
