DAC1 USB without USB Input

DAC1 USB without USB Input

Hello,

I have been using my DAC1 USB for so time as my sound card / montioring chain for my mastering services. Now I am in the process of looking to get an analog EQ & compressor along with the necessary AD / DA converter(s).

So my question is can the DAC1 USB still work well 2-AES input as I plan on getting a Mytek 8X192 AD/DA & RME HDSPe AES PCIe interface?

Hi Mike,

Yes, the AES input works very well on the DAC1 USB.  In fact, every input will yield the exact same sound quality, assuming that the input data is identical.

However, that latter point is very important.  The only thing that may limit the performance will be the integrity of the input data (the digital audio being delivered into the input of the DAC1 USB).  I would think the Mytek is 'bit-transparent' (does not alter the digital audio between the software and the AES output), but you will want to speak with them to verify the proper settings to assure this.
