Are the any audible benefits to setting the output level attenuation a 0db?
My pre-amp can take as much as 16v input so I don't believe it will overload a 0db setting in the DAC.
Attenuating the DAC does allow the volume control on my pre-amp to match the my other sources more closely.
I know the output impedance will rise on the DAC but my cables are very short so I don’t believe cable length to be a problem. I just don’t know what else, if anything, may be effected.
There are no audible benefits
There are no audible benefits to setting the output level attenuation to 0 dB. If you do this, you will simply attenuate the signal the same amount in your pre-amp anyway.
I recommend keeping the attenuators in their current position if it is allowing you to have good range on your pre-amp's volume control.
All the best,
Elias
