 I have a mac mini unibody and I think I would like to use windows 7 to enable automatic switching of the word length and sample rate. Will this work? I don't really want to use amarro or pure music I'm just looking for the easiest way to play music. Also does the DAC 1 usb convert the usb input to spdif or I2s to the dac chip less processing the better!

Hi Mike,

Windows 7 will not automatically switch sample-rates or word-lengths.  It operates very similar to the Mac, which is to say, it will play everything at one sample rate and convert everything to that rate.

Mac OS X does a very good job at sample-rate conversion, so I wouldn't be adverse to using it.

The DAC1 USB converts the USB input to I2S.

 Thanks Elias, I will now get a DAC1 usb, use Pure Music with iTunes and just enjoy my music.
