USB 3.0 Test (2,5 GBit/sec dedicated channel for the DAC1)

USB 3.0 Test (2,5 GBit/sec dedicated channel for the DAC1)

Gentlemen,

First of all finally I fix the problems with Foobar after a long time of pain. PLEASE DO NOT USE Beta Version of Foobar, Components or whatelse. They generate unwanted clicks, pops and other bad things (i.e. to interrupt the USB communication between PC and the DAC).

Now, back  to the USB 3.0 Topic. I want just to know if Benchmark will release some DACs with the new USB standard, what is the opinion of BENCHMARK about this new technology?

The USB 3.0 is backward compatible with the USB 2.0 and I had a pretty nice Idea to improve the communication between my Notebook and the DAC1 USB. I tell you what I done.

Nowadays there is lots of device which works on the USB 2.0 (even beard trimmer and I´m not joking). Every time I connect and disconnect a device from the USB Bus I´m asking me if the DAC1 will be influenced from what happens on the whole USB Bus (i.e. bandwith drop-down or whatelse). By reading this forum I realized that not all the PC can ensure a properly USB connection... so there must be a solution or an elegant way to fix the situation.

I was looking for a dedicated digital channel to connect the DAC1 with the PC in order to be indipendent from the various USB peripheral equipment.

And then God sends me the idea: The PCMCIA Express Card.

The PCMCIA Express has a Bandwith 2,5GBit/sec which is even faster of the USB 2.0 (480MBit/sec). The next step was to found a connection between the USB 2.0 world and the PCMCIA Express. I organized a PCMCIA Express to USB 3.0 and that´s it!

I choosed the USB 3.0 because it has nominally 5GBit/sec  (that´s means no problem at 480Mbit/sec) and the adapter are so cheap...

The result

Just a perfect DAC system: no clicks, no bumps and 2,5 GBit/sec dedicated for the DAC1. the USB 2.0 it´s still working and I have no bad feelings to connect external HD, Web Cams, etc. on it.

Placebo effect? Don´t Know. I made a SW and this HW Change at the same time after a long time of pain. Now the Benchmark DAC1 USB really rocks (i´m waiting the neighbor which knocks on my door telling me:"Please shut down this music, NOW").

This is my Story. An happy end story. If your are still in trouble be patience. the Solution must be discovered. Hope must never die.

Sorry for my English.

Hello Zucca, I am very sorry

Hello Zucca,

I am very sorry for the late response.  I wasn't aware of your post because the notification system for this forum seems to be disfunctional.  :(

This is a GREAT STORY!!

I have a question for you: what operating system was being used in this setup?

Best,

Elias
