The Benchmark Bit Transparency Test Kit
The Benchmark Bit Transparency Test Kit

How about giving us a way of actually testing for this for our own rigs ? Eg if you sold some CDs/DVDs and made available some files at various bitrates, we could test this in our own setups to see if we were feeding the DAC right to begin with. We'd need some method to get the resulting datastream into a PC and compare the files for a simple yes/no/% loss...sounds doable with a decent soundcard & some code ? Who knows...
I see that you've done some testing on your wiki (which is very helpful) but no-one can expect you to test every rig out there. Anyway, you know what they say about teaching someone how to fish ....
My own guess is that much unwanted tweaking and misconceptions get solved if we had a simple and reliable way of doing the test.
Just a thought - thanks again for a great product, and wonderful customer service. If you already have something available that I could buy to do the bit testing (which doesnt involve splashing zillions of bucks) let me know!
Best,
Kul
Hey Kul, Thanks for the
Hey Kul,
Thanks for the suggestion. Creating a test-file or test-disc would be easy, and we've already done it. However, the hard part is building a receiver that will check the stream and verify bit-transparency. We use an Audio Precision machine to verify bit-transparency, but unfortunately they are incredibly expensive!
We will keep your suggestion in mind, and perhaps we can include it as a feature in a future product. Who knows!
All the best,
Elias
