My office DAC1 USB setup
Submitted by Jetlag on Sun, 2009-10-11 17:01All of my CDs are ripped to FLAC and stored on my server in the basement. The routing for my setup is as follows:
ReadyNAS Pro running SqueezeCenter > Dell PowerConnect 2716 Gigabit Switch > ethernet > Logitech (SlimDevices) SB3 > digital coax > DAC1 USB > XLR > Paradigm Studio Reference Active 20s
I use my DAC1 USB everyday and this setup sounds great!

How are those Paradigm Active's? I don't see any information on the Paradigm website about the Active line.

...because they are no longer made
I bought them from the original owner on either Audiogon or eBay, don't remember which. One of the power supplies was a bit fuzzy so I packed them up and sent them to CA for about a month while the Techs at Paradiagm went through them very thoroughly. They replaced both of the power supplies, tested all the drivers, went through the dials controls to ensue they were clean and operating perfectly and did a couple of other things prior to sending them back. They even included a note stating that they were now good as new and really sounded terrific.
They are no longer made but were favorably reviewed when they came out. I've read a number of articles and posts since wondering why Paradigm abandoned this product, and one specifically asking them to reconsider. They are hard to find, but if you do dig up a pair they make a great near-field monitors as well. I tried 3 other pairs of speakers prior to deciding on these.
