Often when using a stand alone microphone preamplifier such as the MPS-400 series of the System 1000 Mic-Pre DAs one or more of the outputs must feed the microphone input of a mixing console. Many of the current vintage mixing consoles do not have individual microphone power switches. +48 volts is turned on and off from one switch affecting the entire bank of microphone preamplifiers in the console.

The LMA-1X is the only Line level to Mic-level attenuator on the market today that includes AC coupling.  AC Coupling is necessary to protect the source equipment from the inadvertent application of +48V phantom power. Phantom power applied to an electronic output will, almost without exception, destroy the amplifiers output stage.  The LMA-1X prevents that problem.
