Loss of Audio Alarm Module

ALM-110 Manual

The ALM-110 Loss of Audio Alarm Module monitors ten audio sources simultaneously, providing LED indicators on the front edge of the module, and alarm logic outputs at the rear connector of the card frame. For sophisticated computer driven monitoring, it furnishes a logic output for each audio input as well as an OR'ed output for simple alarm systems. Alternate output pull down transistors allow relays to be driven. Average signal level threshold is also adjustable from -10 dBu to +8 dBu per channel.

Features
  • • 10 red LED alarm indicators
  • • 10 discrete logic outputs (per channel)
  • • 1 daisy chain OR'ed output
  • • OV (GND) = safe state, +12 V = alarm state
  • • 2-30 second adjustable off warning delay
  • • Variable level threshold

ALM-110 Application

System signal flow diagnostics may be greatly simplified using the ALM-110. Perhaps one of the best uses of the module is to monitor the input and output of every piece of equipment in a critical signal path, such as an On-Air chain. Then, by monitoring the digital outputs of the module with a computer program written in, say, Visual Basic, you may be able to quickly see where a loss of audio occurred, such as with an incorrect patch insertion. Adding graphical features to the program, showing a map of the signal path with a flashing break point, can greatly enhance diagnostics and reduce lost air time.
