MDA-101PA - Mic-Pre Power DA™

Discontinued Product

The MDA-101 combines an ultra-low-noise, variable gain microphone preamp with a DA. It has one input and 10 line level outputs. It provides the ideal method of microphone signal distribution, because all signals are distributed at line level. Since input clip is +29 dBu at minimum gain, the card is a good choice for line level distribution applications that occasionally require significant gain. With line level distribution, long runs are far less susceptible to noise pickup from lighting or other sources, and line level inputs are all that is needed at the receive end. Plug on accessory daughterboards, such as the RGC-04 remote gain control, add significant versatility to the DA. Join the BBC, NBC-TV, NPR, and the Boston Symphony in choosing the finest mic-pre DAs!

The MDA-101PA-ra module is a MDA-101PA with remotely controlled attenuator.

THD+N and Phase vs. Freq Performance Graph

FSG-01 The FSG-01 is a First Stage Gain control daughterboard for the MDA-101, a System 1000 microphone preamplifier - line level DA. The FSG-01 performs gain change directly at the input stage of the microphone preamp thereby optimizing the noise and distortion performance of the preamp. By placing the actual gain change at the first stage of a microphone preamplifier, the noise figure and distortion performance of the preamp is maintained. VCA gain control is often placed in the third stage of a preamp, however this is a compromise to overall distortion and noise performance as well as making first stage clip condition correction impossible without a remote input attenuator.

System 1000 DA-102DM

Product Overview Photo:

Features

  • Peak in and out clip points = +27 dBu
  • THD = 0.0005% @ 2 kHz, 0.0015% @ 20 kHz
  • CMRR > 100 dB to 2 kHz, 75 dB @ 20 kHz
  • Bandwidth = 160 kHz, 20 kHz Ø = -14°
  • Interchannel Ø difference = 0.5° max, 0.1° typ
  • 60 ohm output impedance
  • Five stereo on-board outputs
  • Gain is variable or precision unity (switchable)
  • Dual 13 segment LED meters (DA-102DM only)
  • Noise floor = -103 dBu
  • 2M ohm balanced stereo inputs
  • Crosstalk better than -75 dB at 20 kHz

The DA-102DM is a stereo distribution amplifier with five on-board splits per channel. A signal routing switch allows selection of either input 1, input 2, or both for signal mixing to the outputs. We normally configure a sixth output at 0 ohms for use with external build-out panels to furnish many additional outputs. It can also be reconfigured as a sixth 60 ohm or a 1k ohm mono mix output. The DA-102DM has two sets of front panel 13 segment LEDs, so that you can simultaneously monitor the left & right outputs. The 13 segment dual meter plus peak LED gives you the visual cues you need to stay in control of levels. Plug on accessory daughterboards, such as the RGC-02 remote gain control, add significant versatility to the DA.

The DA-112 module is a DA-102DM without LED meter system.
